In a little under four weeks time, John Lynch could well take the stage at the annual NFL Honors event when the 2018 Hall of Fame class are introduced for the first time. The 5-time finalist will be considered based upon his 15 year NFL career as a hard-hitting Free Safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos.
There is a reasonable chance this is John’s year to be awarded a coveted Gold jacket but, for me, there is another Hall of Fame for which I believe he should be a 1st ballot inductee. Continue reading

Masking the truth
Ahead of last night’s Draft, most of the talk was of which way round the top two Quarterback prospects of this year’s class – Jared Goff and Carson Wentz – would be picked following the Rams and Eagles making early trade moves to secure the first two spots on the board.
The other player being talked about by many was Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. Widely regarded as the best player of the entire draft class, several teams were lined up as possible suitors and Tunsil was expected to have been selected well inside the Top 10.
That was, until the immediacy of social media threatened to completely de-rail his Draft experience.
Earning their stripes
So there we are. Another NFL season is in the books (well done Denver!).
Whilst the ever-evolving hierarchy of the League continues its fluid journey year on year (did anyone really expect the Redskins to make the Play-Offs, or the Cowboys to prop up the same division back in July?), some things seemingly remain constant.

As we head in to Week 6 of the regular season, six teams still hold a perfect record. It’s still too early to suggest one of these teams will make it to the end of the season without incurring a loss, but who is likely to hold on to that perfect 1.000 PCT the longest?

I, like all 49ers fans, endured one of the most bizarre close seasons in living memory as a relentless stream of footballing talent left my beloved team’s facility in Santa Clara over the course of the Summer. From Head Coach to punter, it seemed no one was a banker for being around to suit up against the Vikings on the first Monday Night Football of the season.

Feeling deflated
Back in January, news broke that the NFL were investigating the possibility that some footballs used in the AFC Championship Game may have been outside of the League’s mandated pressures. At the time, almost everybody said “Oh”, and moved on.
I don’t think anyone expected that, 4 months later, we’d be talking about the NFL having handed down a $1M fine, 4 game suspension and two revoked draft picks in connection with the same story – the saga nicknamed DeflateGate.
It is, in my opinion, a ridiculous level of punishment for contravention of a somewhat obscure League rule.
